I will be giving all of the money I make from A Game of One Half to Sport Relief. The following aims at clarifying exactly what this means. If it doesn’t, or you have any questions at all, feel free to get in touch.
Firstly, I’m planning on selling it on Kindle and in paperback for the rest of the year (2014) exclusively via Amazon. All of the money raised throughout the year will be donated to Sport Relief (initially to the 2014 fund, then to the 2016 fund). If for any reason Sport Relief stop accepting donations, it will be donated to Comic Relief. If they in turn stop accepting donations, it will be given to a charity of my choosing.
The price of the Kindle edition of the book is £1.99.
From this value, £1.33 will go to Sport Relief. The remainder of the money goes to Amazon for distribution costs. I have been in contact with Amazon to see if they would be willing to donate their share to Sport Relief, but sadly they declined.
The price of a paperback is £3.99.
From this value, £1.09 will go to Sport Relief. The remainder of the value will go to Amazon/CreateSpace. Amazon create the physical books (via the CreateSpace sister comapny) so the £2.90 will go in some part to production costs, and in some part to distribution.
So to be clear, I won’t make a penny from the book, but there are some costs associated which can’t be avoided. If you have any questions about the above, or indeed anything in general, please get in touch.
